Educational Coordinator for the Department of Finance (2024)

Introduction

As educational coordinator for the Department of Finance you support the teaching faculty members in all of the programmes and courses offered by this academic department, and act as the link between teaching faculty and programme management. The educational coordinator has frequent contact with teaching faculty, education services teams, and students. The educational coordinator is a member of Education Services and seconded to the Department of Finance.

Job description

Your main tasks

  • Supporting the preparation of the academic year
    • Collecting and providing information and updates about the Department’s curricula, courses, electives, instructors, credits, and student eligibility criteria
    • Ensuring the timely delivery of complete and accurate entries in the course cataloguefor all courses of the programme
    • Actively communicating any ad-hoc changes related to courses, instructors, assessment, or student enrolment numbers to education services.
    • Supporting the Academic Directors (ADs)of the Department in the preparation and conduct of the programme kick-off activities.
    • Supporting the coordinator of the Honours Programme
    • Supporting the Department’s elective information sessions
    • Ensuring timely and complete delivery of scheduling requests to the schedulers and keeping track of the timetables of the Department’s courses.
  • Supporting education delivery
    • Organising alignment and best-practice sharing between the programme’ s instructors
    • Ensuring timely delivery of syllabi for all courses
    • Ensuring that course-level support is provided.
    • Ensuring that all Canvas pages are of good quality and accessible for students on time
    • Supporting instructors in the creation and management of student groups
  • Supporting assessment
    • Supporting the creating and documentation of the programme assessment plan
    • Ensuring that assessment policies and guidelines are observed.
  • Supporting Thesis Coordinator
    • Supporting the Thesis Coordinator in the daily activities related to the thesis trajectory
    • Helping with the allocation of thesis coaches and co-readers
    • Developing the thesis trajectory from a student perspective (e.g., identifying development needs and developing resources for Canvas).
  • Resource coordination
    • Tracking and planning teaching and teaching support to identify resource needs, and creating a longer-term resource plan together with the AD.
    • Working with ADs to ensure that teaching resource needs are met
    • Working with ADs and head of department to create long-term resource plans for the Department.
  • Support ADs with quality assurance
    • Regularly hosting student feedback meetings
    • Maintaining an overview of the quality of the courses, the programme, and the thesis trajectory, and supporting the Department and instructors in quality improvement activities
    • Exchanging best practices with education coordinators of other departments and contribute to the community
    • Working to align the education to vision(s) for programme(s)
    • Creating reports for accreditations and rankings.

Job requirements

We’re interested in you if you:

  • Hold a higher education degree, preferably university (Dutch, wo) or at least university of applied science (Dutch, hbo).
  • Have excellent command of English (minimum CEFR level 1, speaking and writing)
  • Possess advanced knowledge of and experience with the MS Office suite (especially Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and ideally Teams and SharePoint)
  • Are comfortable handling multiple stakeholders, processes and projects in parallel
  • Are able to work independently and take initiatives
  • Have a customer-friendly, optimistic, and strong problem-solving attitude
  • Have affinity with international higher education.

Employment conditions and benefits

The conditions of employment comply with the collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU). We offer a temporary contract of 30.4 – 38 hours per week (32 – 40 working hours).

Salary is subject to training and experience and may vary from a minimum of € 3226 up to a maximum of € 5090 gross per month (scale 10 CAO NU), based on a full-time contract of 38 hours per week.

The Department of Financeat RSM has a large number of international faculty members who have been educated at renowned institutions in Europe, the USA, and Asia. The Department has a strong research tradition evidenced by publications in top journals, an active PhD programme, and takes part in research visits to leading schools in the USA.

The Department contributes to the curriculum of both the BSc in International Business Administration and the BSc in Business Administration, as well as a demanding MSc in Finance and Investments that prepares future leaders in business and finance and which is one of RSM's largest master programmes.

Department

The Education Services department is headed by three cluster managers and consists of several teams, such as programme management, schedulers, recruitment and admissions, study advice, business intelligence, international office, examination board support, and a career centre.

Together with your MSc programme management team members, you support the educational processes of around 3,000 international and Dutch students in 15 MSc programmes. As part of an international, diverse team, you have around nine direct colleagues. You also have frequent online and face-to-face contact with students, teaching faculty, neighbouring teams and, occasionally, external parties.
