Liatu King to Notre Dame

Notre Dame announced the addition of Pitt transfer Liatu King (6-0 SR forward, Washington, DC), a 2024 first-team All-ACC selection.

Notre Dame has added its first student-athlete out of the transfer portal this offseason, and she’s a big get.

On Monday, 2024 First Team All-ACC forward Liatu King signed with the Irish after spending four years at Pittsburgh. She is one of just three players in the ACC who averaged a double-double last season, posting 18.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. King had 18 double-doubles during her senior year, including a pair of them against Notre Dame. She was the only player in the country who averaged at least 18.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

“Please welcome Liatu to our Notre Dame family!” Karen and Kevin Keyes Family Head Coach Niele Ivey said. “One of the most improved players in the country, Liatu brings athleticism and efficiency to our front court. She is versatile and dynamic with an innate ability to score on multiple levels. With her smooth jumper, she can also dominate on the block. Liatu had 18 double-doubles last year and shot 52 percent from the floor. She will make an immediate impact on our team next season.”

Additionally, the Washington, D.C. native’s 52.3 field goal percentage ranked fourth in the conference and 51st in the nation. It was up 13.1 percent from her junior year (39.4). In addition to earning a spot on the All-ACC First Team, she was the conference’s Most Improved Award recipient.

Kemery Martin Heading to BYU

Cal grad transfer Kemery Martín (6-0 RS SR guard, Sandy, UT) landed at BYU. She began her college career at Utah.

Cougars add sharpshooting Cal transfer Kemery Martín to BYU women’s basketball’s 2024-25 roster, head coach Amber Whiting announced Friday.

“Kemery is a three-level scorer that will add depth and experience to our young roster,” head coach Amber Whiting said. “She has the ability to shoot it from deep, put it on the deck, get to the rim and she has a high basketball IQ which helps her create for her teammates as well. She is a great fit for our team and will make an immediate impact through her experience and leadership.”

BYU will be Martín’s third and final stop in her six-year college basketball career that began at the University of Utah before a two-year stint at Cal Berkeley. The redshirt senior will play her final season of college basketball for the Cougars who look to improve on their 16-17 2023-24 record.

Martín began her college career playing three seasons for the Utah Utes (2019-22) where she appeared in 58 games, starting 26 and playing 18.5 minutes per game. She averaged 6.6 points, grabbing 1.7 rebounds and dishing 1.3 assists in three seasons with the Utes but had her most productive year during her sophom*ore campaign.

Cal Adding Kayla Williams

Cal announced the addition of Southern Cal grad transfer Kayla Williams (5-7 RS SR guard, Los Angeles, CA). She began her college career at UC Irvine.

The California women’s basketball team has added graduate transfer Kayla Williams to its roster for the 2024-25 season, Cal head coachCharmin Smithannounced Friday.

Williams, a 5-foot-7 guard from Los Angeles, is transferring to Cal from the University of Southern California. Prior to playing for USC, she spent three years at UC Irvine.

In her first season with USC in 2022-23, Williams earned Pac-12 All-Defensive Team Honorable Mention after leading the team in steals (48). She started all 31 games for the Trojans during the 2022-23 season and played in 26 games this past season.

Williams sat out the 2019-20 season due to injury before playing and starting in 55 games during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons with the Anteaters, where she earned Big West Freshman of the Year, All-Big West First Team honors both years and Big West All-Defensive and Big West All-Tournament Team honors (2021-22) during that stint.

“We could tell instantly that Kayla was a great fit for our culture and our team,” Smith said. “Our players absolutely loved getting to know her. She has experience as a starting guard on an NCAA Tournament team. She’s going to elevate our defensive presence and bring her winning mentality and playmaking skills to our squad and allow us to hit the ground running as we head into the ACC.”

In 2023-24, Williams averaged 10.8 minutes and 2.6 points per game over the 26 games played. She scored a season-high nine points against Air Force and swiped a season-high four steals against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Janae Walker to Rutgers

Kentucky transfer Janae Walker (6-3 FR center, Tyrone, GA) signed with Rutgers.

Rutgers women’s basketball head coach Coquese Washington announced the signing of transfer forward Janae Walker Thursday morning. The Tyrone, Georgia native joins the Scarlet Knights after playing her first collegiate season at Kentucky.

Walker joins fellow transfer JoJo Lacey (Boston College) in addition to freshmen Kiyomi McMiller and Zachara Perkins as part of the incoming 2024-25 class.

“I am elated that Janae Walker has joined the Scarlet Knight family,” Washington said. “Janae is a talented and versatile forward who adds size and depth to our front court. She has tremendous potential and there is no question she can be an impactfulforce in the Big Ten.”

During her rookie season with the Wildcats, Walker played in 28 games and made one start.She netted a season-high six points and three field goals at No. 18/18 Louisville (Dec. 10), while also grabbing four rebounds three times. Walker led UK in blocks four times during the season.

Tineya Hylton to Texas A&M

transfer Tineya Hylton (5-7 JR point guard, Toronto, ON) landedat Cincinnati. She began her college career at Georgia.

University of Cincinnati women’s basketball head coachKatrina Merriweatherhas announced the addition of Texas A&M transfer Tineya Hylton to the 2024-25 roster.

Hylton, a 5-foot-7 guard, comes to Cincinnati following two seasons with the Aggies, which included a 2024 NCAA Tournament appearance.

“Tineya brings the experience, defensive mentality and work ethic our program needs,” said Merriweather. “She will makean immediate impact on both sides of the ball and allow us to play up-tempo. Her toughness fits our style, and her belief in us and where we’re headed means everything.I am looking forward to her meshing with our current roster and her leadership as our point guard. With the addition of Tineya, we certainly got better and we can’t wait to get started.”

The Toronto native starred on the U23 Canada National Team where she earnedasilver medal at the 2023 GLOBL JAM. She averaged 4.0 points and 1.3 steals per game for her country during the tournament.

As a junior in 2023-24, she led the team in assists five times and recorded three double-digit scoring performances. She dished out a career-high seven assists vs. Vanderbilt on Feb. 15, 2024 – the second-highest assist total by an Aggie that season.
